Not to get on a sexist rant here or anything, but researches have proven that women find it harder to maintain a healthy lifestyle than men do!

The reasons for this are obvious:  pregnancy, child birth and child care, constantly juggling the pressures of life and always being time poor!

That’s why one of the first disciplines to go in a busy woman’s life is exercise.  If you want to get and keep flatter abs as you grow older, then skipping exercise would be a big mistake.

The truth is that women benefit greatly from exercise.  Regular exercise will lower your estrogen levels, reduce body fat, and produce a healthier body mass index. Put all of this together and exercise not only goes a long way to lowering the risks of developing many of the ‘female cancers’ but it also helps with controlling your weight and making you look and feel great.

Aging for a woman can be traumatic!  Not only has the child bearing years often left a deep trauma on our bodies, but the physical process of bringing up the kids for 18 or so years, also takes its toll!  Stomachs become flabby and slack, arms lose their form and biceps and triceps need work and the longing for the bodies that we had in our twenties and thirties is never far from our thoughts.

When it comes to trying to get flatter abs, you’d be forgive if you’ve fallen into the myths and misinformation that is out there about how you go about achieving flatter abs.   The truth is that most people who wanted to get flatter abs would start out by doing some sit ups, some stomach crunches and maybe even some push ups.  But not too many people would start out by trying to lose some actual weight.

The key to flatter abs begins with losing the fat that is surrounding your whole body and once you’ve done that, then using focused and specific exercises to get your flat abs.  Flat abs means staying young and looking great.

Now some of the best ways to reduce your belly fat is to engage in either walking or jogging.  As you walk briskly, you burn calories and fats, you should also consider taking up some high octane aerobic exercises that will also have the same effect.  To get a flat stomach through aerobic workouts at least three times a week for 20 mins each time.

When starting an exercise program, it is important to remember these very basic principles:

1. Make sure you’re in control of what you’re doing regarding exercise or you might very well hurt yourself.

2. Breathing correctly is critical if you’re going to get the full benefit of any exercise to help you get flat abs, so pay particular attention to your breathing.

3. Take your time in your pursuit of flat abs!  Doing too much too soon is a surefire way to injure yourself or to lose your appetite to keep on exercising.

4. Focus and keep going regularly.  Carve out time for you and time for your exercise routine and unless there’s a real emergency that pulls you away, don’t miss out!

So don’t let age be a barrier for getting flatter abs!  You might need to work a little harder and be more focused about this than a woman 10 – 20 years younger than you, but you can get flatter abs!
